Speedcar Super Series Charges Into Charlton For Rd 2!
1/12/2005 - SSS PR

Get trackside; the Speedcar Super Series is heading north to #2 Grant Draney’s territory; QUEENSLAND! Round 2 of the 6 round show is thundering into Toowoomba’s Charlton Raceway this Saturday night for another awesome night of Speedcar action.

Backing up from rave reviews from the Round 1 Avalon show, our podium posse is back: Mark “Browndog” Brown, Kiwi Michael Pickens and Adam Clarke are ready to show Qld fans non-stop wheel-to-wheel Speedcar Racing like never seen before.

Grant Draney, the lone QLD representative touring the country for the entire SSS, has the help of his fellow Queensland competitors this round with local racers including Mark George, Andrew Barr, Brad Hilder, Ken Stanaway and former Australian Sprintcar Champion, Todd Wanless joining our talented line-up.

South Australian Ben Wiese, Victorian’s Harley Bishop and Troy Jordan, West Australian Dene McAllan, New Zealander Stevie Walsh along with a New South Wales contingent: Steven Graham, Peter Bourke, Tarin Edge and Nathan Smee all have plans of taking the $2000 prize home.

With work commitments in the USA this week, both Mark Cooper #7 and Matt Young #6 are unable to compete. Running to the race rules, they can earn points for one show with a nominated driver of their choice. 04/05 Charlton Masters winner Darren Jenkins will pilot the #7, while NSW hard-charger Stephen Brown will step into the Terry King owned #6.

“The reason we’ve put Stephen in the car is because he is a good and steady driver with a good outlook at racing” said King.

With a generous prize pool paying down to 10th in the B Main, $100 sponsored by National Speedway Illustrated for the top Time Trial qualifier, $200 for the Pole Shuffle winner sponsored by Rod Bowen’s Prestige Smash Repairs, a US $150 voucher from M & W Aluminium for the 10th runner home in the A Main and a $100 bonus if the A Main winner uses four American Racer tyres to cross the line; there is plenty up for grabs for our Speedcar stars.
