 The
team arrived in Mt Gambier after driving 4 1/2 hrs from
Adelaide. We worked on the car on Saturday morning
before heading to the track.
What an awesome racetrack
for midgets!!! The drivers went out for hot laps and all
the fast cars were pulling wheel stands coming out of
turn two.
Dene set 2nd
fastest time trial and finished 3rd in both
his heats from the rear, this put him 5th
overall and in a great position. He beat Mark Cooper in
the first dash and then lost to Adam Clarke. Deno tried
an awesome move under Clarkey into the third corner but
grabbed a tacky spot and shot himself onto the infield,
he tried to miss an official and flipped on the grass.
We only had about 15 minutes to repair the car for the
feature, the team did a great job to have Dene out there
and lining up in the 5th position.
What a spectacular sight,
22 cars and some of the best drivers this country has to
offer all ready to turn it on and they did. There was
passing everywhere and long periods of green light
action, Dene got himself up to the 2nd
position with six laps to go but unfortunately we had
some mechanical problems so he had to retire.
