SSS Stars of the South!
14/10/2006 - SSS PR

The line-up for this season’s Speedcar Super Series continues to grow with a list of names set to thrill at each of the six rounds! As previously disclosed, already on the SSS tour is Queensland’s Clayton Walker Q75 and two of West Australia’s biggest names; Dene McAllan W21 and Neville Lance W14.

Likewise Victoria hasn’t let the series slip by unrepresented either! ‘Wild Child’ Harley Bishop makes a welcome return to the fold after engine woes forced the 25 year old from contention late last series. This year though, Bishop is sure to make an impact on the Championship point score with his brand new Aggressor/Gaerte Speedcar package ready to race.

Joining Harley on the Victorian rep team is ultra-experienced Peter Ghent Jnr. Returning after a season on the hill, Ghent will step behind the wheel of his new VIC3 Spike chassis/Hawk (ex Barry Graham) and looks to further extend his winning ways earned over the last 20 years. A multiple South Australian champion and regular blue ribbon event podium placer; Ghent will always be one to watch come feature time.

South Australia meanwhile will once again be represented with young-gun Ben Wiese rejoining the series for his second consecutive season. While upcoming work commitments saw Wiese unable to compete at his regular club shows throughout South Australia, Ben will this year jump behind the wheel of the Rinkin Motorsports N70 machine; a Speedcar steered regularly around TPCR by Sydney hot-shot Jason Gates. Murray Bridge will be his first event in the car on the 28th of October but the Rinkin team is confident Ben’s experience at the circuit will be an instant advantage in tackling his new ride.

“SSS Rd 1 (Murray Bridge) is exciting” quotes Wiese on his latest web release. “I believe I would put up a good showing at a track I have done 100’s of laps at”. Obviously car owner Mike Rinkin agrees.
