BOC Bandit Brings it Home!

Sydney’s Troy Jenkins drove smart and smooth on Saturday night to capture round three of the Speedcar Super Series ahead of Dene McAllan and Mark Brown, before an appreciative Queensland crowd!

Heading into round three of the Speedcar Super Series it was anyone’s guess who would lead the fray as the best of Australia’s Speedcar racers prepared to battle it out over 30 laps! Despite sporadic rainfall throughout the night which saw the cancellation of both time trials and the ever-exciting Pole Shuffles, Charlton Raceway track officials delivered an A-Main race surface which did not disappoint!

Coming from position six in the feature line up, Jenkins in his BOC Gases Stealth/Fontana had some stiff competition before him including reigning SSS Champion Mark ‘Browndog’ Brown, West Australian young-gun Dene McAllan and the ‘Flying Pom’ Tony Abson in his ex-Chili Bowl machinery to name but a few!

“It was always going to be tough but we chipped away; we moved past Abson, then Brown, and eventually McAllan” said Jenkins after the event. “We had everything go right on the night. It was a very satisfying win”.

Indeed so well did things go to plan for the Sydney hot-shot, that Jenkins ended the race with a good five car length lead on his closest opponent McAllan!

“That’s the best drive I have seen from Troy in a while” said an impressed Brown after the show. “He got past me for second and then slipped by Dene fair and square to grab the lead. He was just too quick for the rest of us”.

The feature saw Jenkins take the win ahead of McAllan, Brown, QLD’s Todd Wanless and Kelvin Hamilton, Sydney’s Matt Young, Tony Abson and Matt Smith, QLD’s Brock Dean, with Victorian Troy Jordan rounding out the top ten. Heat wins were captured by Abson, Young, Wanless, Brown, McAllan and Jenkins. The B Main was snatched away by Sydney’s Peter Bourke ahead of Jordan and QLD’s Jeremy Hassell.

With the series heading onto Murray Bridge Speedway in South Australia on December 15, it will again be an extremely difficult choice to pick a winner. Last season saw Jenkins triumph at the renowned circuit in what will be remembered by many as one of the best races of the decade, with Jenkins holding out both Brown and local hero Luke Dillon. This time round, add in another handful of expert challengers and round four looks set to be one of the toughest yet!
